Which is your favorite?

CrossFit exercises can be split into 3 main categories: Gymnastics, Weightlifting, Mono-structural.

Gymnastics is any movement that uses your body weight (squats, pullups, burpees).

Weightlifting is moving an external load (deadlift, cleans, wall balls).

Mono-structural is the cool term for cardio (running, rowing).

Which category do you like to see in the workouts and why?

  1. Great workout this am. Thanks Crossfitters for welcoming me back after a month and a half hiatus. πŸ™‚

  2. Not knowing what horrendous montage you have put together is going to drive me crazy all day as my access is blocked here at work!

  3. Happy Birthday Patric!
Jane and Pierre. You are movie stars. Jane, you will love it – not to worry – much.

  4. Happy Birthday Pat.
I love running, but I get excited to see the lifting and the body weight/gymnastic style workouts because I want to get stronger! Practice makes better. πŸ™‚

  5. The running is my favorite part. Next would be the gymnastic part. It’s hard for me, I really enjoy the challenge of it. It feels pretty good to just one start doing something one day that you couldn’t do before. You know in your head how much work it took to get there.

  6. I love workouts like Elizabeth that combines weighlifting and gymnastics.

It creates a synergy that challenges me both physically and mentally.

    I don’t really like mono-structural movements.

  7. I’m with P-Money…not a fan of the mono-structural.

I think I’m better at the weightlifting WODs, but still enjoy gymnastics (30 muscle-ups for time is fun!)

  8. Ironically I like weightlifting because that’s what I’m the worst at. I go to Crossfit to build strength. Weightlifting is what gives me the result I’m looking for. Gymnastics also helps achieve my goals. I feel like the mono-structural stuff I can do at home any time but I still enjoy it.

Thanks for the bday wishes. The question you should all be asking is “which class am I going to show up at and how many burpees will you have to do?”. Does everybody know the birthday rule? MOUUUUUAAAHAHAH!

    1. Happy Birthday Patrick. You must be sooooo excited to be turning 19!! Are you going directly to the liquor store!! Congratulations. You’re the best!! πŸ™‚ The 5:30 class I’m going to be at is SUPER FUN! I’ll bring you a cupcake. What’s your favourite?

*Didn’t really pay attention to the board. Was mentally prepared for 3 rounds with posted reps for all exercises. So… The first round I did 25 lunges and 25 deadlifts! Gillyon and Jeremy seemed super fast …. then I figured out that I’m senile!

By the way… Gillyon ‘was’ super fast! Way to go!
Great push at the end Jeremy!

  15. Hey Kevin is the Saturday class open to all? The site says the class is full, but I thought you said that there was no limit?

  16. I really like all three categories. It is easy to see performance improvements in each of them… whether it is a load, a skill or a time. It’s fun to measure success.

I enjoy WODs most when they involve a few different body parts and different exercises. But, I don’t do that well in WODs for time involving weightlifting moves. I want to go fast but struggle with technique.
