The Filthy 50’s!

It’s my 4 year anniversary of starting CrossFit and this was the first workout I attempted. Notice I didn’t say completed. That’s because I didn’t. As I recall, I made it to the lunges and it was 55 minutes into the workout. That’s when I decided to pull the plug. I didn’t know anything about scaling workouts. Probably should have started with the Terrible 20’s. You’ll have your chance today to tackle this long chipper. However, scale as needed!

For time:
50 Box jump, 24 inch box
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Good Mornings
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball
50 Burpees
50 Double unders

Burpees are so delicious!

    I put an asterisk on my time because prescribed is with back extensions, which Kevin did and I wish I had too! I know my time would have been at least 1 minute slower if not more due to having to break the sets.

    Remember doing this barely sub 20 as prescribed so I think it would still be a PR despite the good mornings.

    50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball (10 foot)

    50 Double unders


    Felt my back in the box jumps, knees to elbows and burpees. Went a little easier on them as I didn’t want to aggravate it.

    Thanks for coming out today everyone! It was awesome watching you all tackle this monster of a workout.

    PR of 6.5 minutes and last time I did this some of the exercises were scaled. Oh man … I ran out of gas today. The wallballs, burpees and doubles were slow. I’d love to try this again sometime after a couple of rest days.

  11. I just wanna say guys everyone one did awesome today. If anyone is kickin their butts over their time I want you to look at this.

    I was trying to compaire my time with other people and I ran across a post on a Bodybuilder forum and it was actually a post from Anthony bainbridge! (Owner of CF freddy, firebreather major time.) it was a post from 2006 of when he tried this workout his time.. and jodi (also firebreather and his wife.)

    Anthony (BW=180)
    Notes: 8lbs ball (heaviest in gym)
    Time: 34:11 (50 second PR)

    Jodi (BW=110)
    Notes: 25lbs dumbbell swings, 35lbs push press, 8lbs ball
    Time: 39:14 (37 second PR)

    Pretty crazy eh? So just know that everyone starts somewhere! And you will become a firebreather! stay consistent and do what coach says!

    1. I’m seeing 5 and 6 min PR’s posted! Those represent a MAJOR increase in work load capacity and overall fitness in my opinion! Fantastic results this morning! Great job everyone!

      1. It was less then a year ago when we did it last. Personally I think this speaks to the programming, a good time to thank coach for his great work!

        Also just came back from the base…

        Strength 3RM Bench press
        135-155-185-205 stopped, shoulder feels sticky still.

        Strength 3RM Squat snatch.
        65-95-115-125-135-145(PR) ugly. Need more work!

  12. Filthy fifty -> 23:13 PR of 6:25 from march 6th. This one kicked my butt again. Damn Saturdays are tough lately.

  13. Nice work all. I did this WOD scaled to 25 reps on July 21, 2009 in 30:57. You guys just did 50 reps in less time. I really wish I’d been in today to see how far I’ve come. Nice work guys.

  14. I wish I could have been there for this one, but I think I might have still been at the gym at 5pm trying to complete this. Great job everyone! Look forward to doing this one the next time it comes up.

  16. I missed today as I was taking part in agility tests to become a volunteer firefighter in Riverview…thanks to crossfit I killed all of them and wanted more! I agree with Ed on the programming
