Do you know what’s awesome?

I was sitting on a box after coaching a workout. People had just finished up with their stretches and began chatting about various topics.

These are some of the things I heard…

“How has Paleo been affecting your performance?”

“My pullups are starting to come along. I think I found the knack for it.”

“Congrats on your deadlift PR. You’re really getting strong!”

These are but a few examples of things I’ve actually heard. Think about it. Where else would you hear stuff like this? Not at a Globogym or the Y.

Also, how many of you would have uttered these comments if you weren’t coming to CrossFit. None of that even mattered the day you walked through the door. But it does now.

And that makes me delighted. Knowing that you take interest in your health and performance. Knowing that you’re not just here for looks, but that you care about your physical capacity. Knowing that you care about the others around you and that you’d take the time to ask them about their results.

That’s awesome.

  1. He definitely makes it look easy! 🙂 I wonder though… does sticking out your tongue help with the technique? ;o

  2. it’s been a while since I’ve posted so…

    Strength: 5×5 Push Jerk 95, 115, 125, 135, 135
WOD: AMRAP in 15 min (moded)
    10 pistols
    10 burpees
    50 stairs

    9 and 2 pistols

    Sunday: 18K Bike race
Time: 2 hours and 19 minutes
    Plus an 8K hike

I seriously doubted I would have done as well as I did on the bike race without crossfit. As soon as I got to that point I was able to put my head down and just push. That was definitely a huge challenge and crossfit made it much more bearable. Everyone said “good job you’ve got the mind of an athlete cause your pushing the limits” and I just thought “I’m a Crossfitter, that’s the only way to do anything.” So, Oh Captain my Captain, thank you for introducing me to crossfit. It has completely changed everything about how I live my life for the better. Cheers and have a great sunday.

    1. Good to hear from you. I was just thinking today how I haven’t heard from you in a while. Great job on the race! You gonna be home for X-mas?

      1. Yeah I am going to be home. i should be getting in around the 18th and I wanna pop in the gym for a few workouts!

  3. i loved the post today! so true! i tell people that all the time. where else are you going to get high-5’s and great jobs and someone in your face telling you to keep going and that you can do it? it’s an amazing feeling, especially for a relative newbie! 🙂

i’ve been meaning to ask if there was someplace i could buy the pull up bands? it’s sometimes hard for me to get to classes because of my husband’s travel schedule, or the kids’ extracurriculars, and i’d love to be able to work on some things at home, but unassisted pull ups are a way out of my reach just yet. 🙂

  4. Mobility plus a warm up of jumping around my living room listening to music 🙂

    WOD Angie
100 pullups (yellow and green band)
    100 pushups (knees)
    100 situps
    100 squats

Time: 24:14 (the pullups were by far the hardest part of that WOD…)

    Have a great week everyone!
