Deck of Death

  • Hearts = Burpees
  • Diamonds = Situps
  • Clubs = Pullups
  • Spades = Squats
  • Jokers = 400m run

Start by drawing the top card and do that many reps of the suit. For example, if you draw the 9 of Hearts, you’re doing 9 burpees. Face cards are all worth 10. The goal is to get through the whole deck as fast as you can.

Grrr! I'm a tiger!

  1. For the last two weeks we have been raising money for Sonia and Kevin with daily sponsorships for all of the results that were posted…

and with all of your support we raised $600.00!!!!! 😀

Whether you sponsored a day or simply took the time to post your results, you made a huge contribution. Everyone came together to support a small idea for two great athletes. Thanks everyone! Give yourselves a hand!
…ok now give Sonia and Kevin a hand! 😛

    Good luck guys!

    1. Jeff that was such a great initiative! And it’s always so great to pull together like that 🙂

  7. At first I thought:
“Hey we get to hack away at a deck of card… neat!”
    And I was like 😀

    Then I saw Pat’s time…
    Then I thought:
    “Oh… “I” get to hack away at a deck of cards… ok…”
    Then I was like :S

    1. Lol that was funny! Great thing is you always know you’re going to get a great workout!

      1. Great workout indeed.

I made the mistake of doing all the math for reps (cuz Im nerd like that).

        I have foreseen the pain.

    2. that was many people’s reaction; “Oh! We do a FULL deck each??” LOL. Yes it’s a long one, but not impossible.

  8. I am not sure if laughed harder with today’s pics or the one with guy and carly!

All the best Kevin and Sonia! yourrr ggrreeat!

  9. eeekkkk I hope you guys are kicking some butt!!! I am sending you all my energy and endurance!

  10. Thanks for the comments everyone! It awesome to see 30 posts when it’s 7am here!

We’re in Banff right now and woke up to snow. Check out facebook to see the picture from our window. We were going to go up a gondola, but it’s visibility is about 500 feet. Enjoyed the outdoor pool last night that was heated to 100 F. We’re going to grab a bite to eat here at the hotel and then head into the city. Looking forward to meeting up with the other Atlantic CrossFitters and share their nervousness.

Looks like the weather is calling for showers while we do our X-country run tonight…to which I say, good! Make it hard! I know it will be mentally tough on all the non-runners.

I’ll try to keep you posted on what’s going on out here.

Take care everyone and thanks again for all the positive comments (except you Pierre…you’re ugly too).

    1. I love you too Kevin!

Good luck guys! I wish I could be there to cheer you on.

And BTW, I am a bit jealous of you to be able to compete in the Regionals! 🙂

      Have fun!

    1. Hi Steph I would love your 3:15 spot…I double checked and I have a 4:15 today. Is this ok Pierre?

i wish is was working out with tracy today, and can just imagine..

      1. This may help you visualize Krista,

Clubs will be sponsored by the letter “B”
Spades will be sponsored by the letter “C”
Hearts will be sponsored by the letter “F”
Diamonds will be sponsored by the letter “J”

And I saved the combination of “M” and “F” for the jokers

    Deck of Death
Nursing some sort of weird arm injury, so Substituted my pull ups for 15# weighted Good Mornings.
    Time: 24:29
The substitution makes it hard to compare with my results in December on this workout, but pretty happy anyway, as the last go around at this w/o I had 8 cards left, with both of them being the joker…so even with the substitution, I figure it’s progress. This is a fun workout!

Gill you were a monster today. Crazy impressive time!

  31. I just picture wrapped. It’s a good thing that Kevin didn’t book this commercial because it would have conflicted with his trip.
Anyway sorry about missing my classes this week. (Actually I do, physically feel bad for not getting my fix this week) But, my schedule is back to normal next week.
If it’s appropriate to do some running to pay for my absences I fully understand. I would have canceled but I was really hoping that I would be finished both Wed and Fri in time to make it.

I hope everyone had a great week and Kevin, Sonia, give ’em hell!
