Any Bad Habits?

Bad habits seem to form without conscious decision and often you don’t realize you’ve fallen into them unless someone points them out to you. I wish I could say I don’t have of these but I know I’m guilty of a number of them myself… Do you have any of them? 

Spend the class working on your snatch. You have the option to do snatch, power snatch, hang snatch, or hang power snatch. If you don’t know the difference, you really need to get in today.

    10 Rounds (22 min time cap)
    12 Deadlifts 135/95
    9 Hang Power Cleans
    6 Push jerks
    (One partner completes one round at a time)

    Next time increase weight to RX 150/110

    Snatch Day – 10 sets of 2 reps

    Practiced as many reps as time allowed for Hang Power Clean technique (65#)

    Bad Habits:
    Thinking that nutrition doesn’t translate to performance – I try to eat “OK”…need more effort on the “really healthy” food
    Not having goals – I have goals…they are just not very high
    Unnecessary scaling – I hope this goes away when I stop thinking about my lower back…made some progress with increased weight in past 3 weeks
    Not working on Skills – I can do more at home, like DUs

  3. Open Gym..Gill and I are doing the Suffering comp. in Sept so I tested the clean ladder WOD this morning. She wasn’t there so I did it by myself…

    24 Pullups
    2 Squat Cleans 95#
    2 Squat Cleans 115#
    2 Squat Cleans 125#


    Pullups in 2 sets 19/5. 95 and 115 cleans were touch and go, quick drop in between the 2 at 125 just enough time to re-grip. They have it set up with 3 different bars for the comp and you have to jump over the bar to get to the next one so bonus no trips or bloody shins from bar jumping.

    Any bad habits…
    – I will decimate any snacks in the house, for time, if not restrained
    – I dont always look at people in the eyes when talking to them. Not on purpose, annoys me when I notice I do that.
    – I get really moody when things don’t go well during a class/WOD, usually when kinks in muscle start acting up, or Open WOD 15.2.
    – I like to startup ideas and such, but I have a hard time seeing them to the end.
    – I give lots of burpees. Like, sometimes, two hundred.

    Worked on technique @ 65#. Thanks for the tip Kevin! That was the exact analogy I needed today 🙂

    Cashout: Tabata Hollow Hold & Russian Twists @ 25#. I know it wasn’t necessary to keep count but I have to whenever I do tabatas! I need to have a number and stick to it..I wanted 30 twists (singles) per round..I got 117 pretty close! It was a fun nooner a very vocal cashout today!

  8. ARRRGGG !!! To many bad habits to list , just cancelled my 6pm class as my flight is now delayed to 8pm …… I was genuinely excited to go and work on snatches as I just got brand new wrist wraps!!!! Do some mobility again and stay in the zone. Really missing you guys and gals <3

    Tabata cash out made me forget that the mob earlier had hurt at all!

    KBS 20/25/30!! Finally got 30#, and felt stable!

    Karen challenge 8#: 5:57
    That is starting to get heavy. Not looking forward to 10#. Also need to fix craning my neck so much to look up.

    Then snatch day! Because that’s super smart right after a 6min Karen.

    Power Snatch:
    35-55-55-65-65-70-70-75(f)-75(failed one)75(ish)

    Then did 3 sets at 55# to try and remind myself that I am capable of landing under the damn bar.

      And then the ridiculous cash out. Hollow holds still a major weakness. Russian twists at 25#, was able to keep pace of 1/sec throughout (with the exception of the last round.)

    Kept the weight low to concentrate on my technique. So much to think about.

    Cash out: Tabata Alternating hollow holds & russian twists (25#): 24-27-28-29
    Hollow holds were brutal.

    Fun class. It’s been awhile since I’ve worked on snatches.

  15. Played around with snatches. Didn’t follow any rep or set scheme. Made it up to 175, failed at 180, went back to 155 to practice getting under.
