10 years!

It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since doing my first CrossFit workout. I remember sitting in my Phys Ed office on my huge desktop computer, scrolling through the CrossFit.com website. Justin Richard and I found the Filthy 50’s, spent a few minutes setting up the stations, and watched WAV movie files on how to properly do the movements. And then we didn’t even finish the workout because it was so hard!

I will be forever grateful for being introduced to this way of health and fitness. It’s given me so much, and I absolutely love giving it back to you, the members.

    I <3 that picture. It's still on our fridge 🙂 I wasn't part of that competition as I had barely started CF at the time but being there that weekend sort of started a journey for me. It's been a fun ride so far, lots further to go.

    Oh my god was this ever a mess, 50 is just too high of a number to keep track of :D, I don’t know if I did 40 wallballs or 60 wallballs, I do know I hated how ever many of them I did do. In retrospect, I think doing 10 rounds of 5 was a mistake .
    Everything hurts now.

    This morning I had been under the impression that I had never done this WOD before. Apparently last year I had attempted to do it with 50 reps per movement and gotten through 364 reps. I’m going to say today was a PR.

    I’ve never done this with 50’s, and based on my time, I wouldn’t finish it….but some day I may have the nerve to try. K2E & wallballs were the worst.

    Yes thirteen single unders left or I would’ve finished the work

    It’s been a fun one year with My calendar says 203 classes. I know there are two missing. I did 10 with crossfit Saint John. I did three competitions spring fling with Melanie in the ice breaker division, the YQM competition in the scaled division with Melanie,Alex and baukje, and the one in the summer hosted by CFM ( which I also played 4 ball games between three WODS). I was lucky enough to do one spartan race in Boston (just a sprint which was 10km) and had a blast. I worked hard on Samantha to drag her to crossfit and it turns out she likes it. Overall fun times great year. I enjoy the 7 am and the banter. I enjoy seeing many people do extraordinary things.

    A muscle up (2 year plan)
    An over head squat with no pain in shoulders and no clicking in my knees ( 4 year plan)
    And one pistol , I don’t care which leg ( 10 year plan)
    Be healthy enough to achieve 10 more years to make it to pistol territory

    And add a rope climb in there but I’m sure I’ll get that one

    I was disappointed yesterday because I was so much slower than usual on this but realized I got my diet back on track a few days ago and I cut sugar back out of my diet and that may be why I was a little sluggish. I’m hoping, anyway.

  32. I was sad to miss doing this Wod yesterday. I am truly grateful for what you have created here. It has changed alot of things for me, not just physically, but mentally. I have made alot if great friends over the years, done things I have never even thought of doing. All in all I think it had helped make me a better person. I love our CFM family!

    1. I also remember my first Wod on Aug 29/2012 first prep class Wod. I am pretty sure Amanda thought I would quit after that. I got to sign the wall after my first 400m of running… But that only fueled the fire more to improve!!!
