18.5 is…

Registration in Zen Planner will be open at 7am and close at 12pm. You must decide if you’re doing Rx’d OR Scaled in advance. Once a heat is full, it’s full. When you arrive at the gym, your name will be on the whiteboard for your specific heat. If you can judge, put your name under an athlete’s name.

We will have an athlete/judges meeting at 5:15. The first heat will start at 5:35. There will be a 5 minute transition between heats.

Come early, get in a solid warm-up, and bring your A-game.

3 thrusters
3 chest-to-bar pull-ups
6 thrusters
6 chest-to-bar pull-ups
9 thrusters
9 chest-to-bar pull-ups
12 thrusters
12 chest-to-bar pull-ups
15 thrusters
15 chest-to-bar pull-ups
18 thrusters
18 chest-to-bar pull-ups

This is a timed workout. If you complete the round of 18, go on to 21. If you complete 21, go on to 24, etc.

Men use 100 lb.
Women use 65 lb.

    Ring Rows

    Total reps- 92

    Got further then I thought and it’s getting harder to pull this extra weight up on the Ring Rows. Last year was my first open and I only managed to get 2 of the 5 workout in due to being away and illnesses. So happy I got all 5 done this year.

    Went Rx’d. Made it to 54 reps, which is 6 C2B pull ups in round 12. I was super happy with this, as really had no idea how far I would get, but my goal was to finish my round of 9. I have vivid memory of this WOD from the 2011 Open. We were still on Rideout Street and it was my first Open and it was the first time I had done C2B pull ups and I clearly recall being elated. I just checked back on my 2011 score & it was 32. My pull ups continue to be a work in progress.

    Total–> 88 reps
    PR of 17 reps from January 2015. (30 reps difference from the actual 11.6. Had 58 then)

    Stuck with my plan and it worked 🙂
    Made it out of the round of 15 Thrusters which was my goal.
    Thrusters were all sets of 3’s with short breaks.
    C2B Pullups all sets of 3’s till the round of 12’s. Mostly quick singles from there on.

    Another classic fun WOD.

    Just finished the round of 15.

    Thrusters are unbroken for 3,6, then 5/4, 5/4/3, then 8/7. Realized I could break those up less.

    C2B are all quick singles, which seemed to work.

    Sad the open is over… Now back to the secluded 6am.

    Last set of thrusters should have been broken differently (8+6+4). Made the pull-ups rough. Maybe all you suckers will vote for it again next year so we’ll see how we match up…

    Never done it before, my rib is still healing so I’m happy with the outcome, I honestly wasn’t expecting to make it past the round of 9!

    Fell off on my plan, thrusters seem to wreck me so badly they make me feel like I have not made any progress with movements .. Gotta figure these out and beat them!
