Last Hero WOD of the month. You knew it had to be a doozy, right?

“Bull”
Two rounds for time of:
200 Double-unders
50 Overhead squats (135/95#)
50 Pull-ups
Run 1 mile

Options:
-Skipping will be decided upon by each person. How many can you manage? 50, 100, 150, 200? All singles? You decide.
-OHS and PU can be done as sets of 35 or 20.
-Running can be 800m.
-Oh, and a 45 min cap, so be on time (or even early!), because at 10 min into the class, the coach is pushing the start button whether you’re ready or not.

Brandon “Bull” Barrett was an outstanding athlete, an avid outdoorsman and a natural leader. He confronted every task with enthusiasm and accepted each responsibility with dignity. His passionate commitment to the Marine Corps and to his troops was insurmountable. Those who knew him will remember his loyalty and his dedication to friendship most of all. His eyes held no prejudice, and he greeted everyone with a smile.

    Time = 41:30

    I scaled it way too much the first round by doing 35 so I upped it back to 50 for the second round.
    Also was the first time I’ve ever done OHS before, and it felt pretty good!
    Next time I’m gonna try to do some DUs instead of all singles and maybe some pull ups instead of all ring rows 🙂

    Round one:
    200 Double-unders – sub 7th minute, personal best but way to slow none the less…
    50 Overhead squats @ 95#, steady sets of 10 – sub 10th minute
    50 Pull-ups – steady sets of 5 – sub 13th minute
    Run 1 mile – steady, recovered a bit came in sub 23rd minute… (I knew that meant I had to go faster in round two…)

    Round two:
    200 DUs – 29th minute, small sets of 10-ish
    50 OHS @ 95# – steady sets of 10 made up some time here, 33rd minute
    50 PUs – fell apart after 15, small sets of 2&3 couldn’t butterfly anymore, 38th minute
    Run 1 mile – I knew I could run this in 6 when I’m fresh (and in a good mood) I had 7 minutes…

    44:58 – very PR, thanks Del for coming back outside to see if I was still breathing, made the cap thanks to you ; )

    Haven’t done this wod since my first year in 2012. Did singles then, 20# at 20 reps, bandeded pull ups 20 reps and I think I scaled the run. So PR haha also a post preggo run PR of not walking in the mile.

    -First round of DU went pretty well, second round was much slower
    -OHS were sets of 5 and very slow
    -Pullups were mostly sets of 5 in round 1. Round 2, not so much…
    -Mile run was slow and steady, could have pushed harder cardio-wise but my legs were tired

    Finished 1 round + 27 pullups at the cap

    Last time I did this WOD I rowed 2km for the runs and used 35lb, having to scale the second round to 35 reps. I finished it then in 43:58 so I’d call today a PR.

    Attempted Bull Rx – Big ole DNF

    Finished 1 round at 20:19, but my legs aren’t recovered from last weekend’s Ultra. The overhead squats were uncomfortable, but the run was painful. It wasn’t worth hurting myself before the Trifecta, so I pulled the plug. Couple more days rest, then I’ll be back to “normal”.

    3 min slower than 2 years ago but back then I scaled the run to 800m and today I did the 1 mile run, really happy with that!! OHS were easy at 45lbs.
