Hopper Recap

Hopper Recap

Whaaaat was that?! The 4th Annual Atlantic Hopper Event went down in the books as one of the biggest CrossFit events to hit the East Coast! We had 151 people registered to compete (up from 104 last year) and hundreds of spectators jammed into CrossFit Moncton to cheer on their family and friends.

There were some VERY impressive performances from both the men and women. But the highlight of my day was watching the kid’s heat. I think some dirt blew into my eye when I heard the roof blow off from all the cheering for the kiddos. They are the future and they are going to kick ass!

Thanks to the generous sponsors! The prizes are getting bigger and better every year. And thank you affiliates for donating prizes.

The judges did an outstanding job this year. Even though I haven’t seen some of you since last year’s Hopper, it doesn’t seem like it. Always a pleasure to catch up with you.

Thank you to the volunteers for your tireless work all day. From re-stocking the washrooms, to “directing” traffic and changing equipment, the entire day was flawless. I received so many comments on how smooth the day went, and I owe it all to you.

Great energy at the gym yesterday! Thanks to all that came out to cheer.

Now to start planning next year… expect to see another twist!

The outstanding performance by the kiddos

It was a great day. I enjoyed watching my fellow CFM crossfitters kill themselves doing that WOD. It was a beauty of a WOD.
I feel I got to know people from CFM a little bit better. This is likely because I followed most
of you into to the washroom!
Thanks again to Kevin and Joanna. It as fun.

I even admit I was starting to get creepy with my washroom duties. Hey Chantal I am a nurse if you are having problems going to the bathroom!

Seeing so many people going out and giving it everything they had, it has given me this crazy idea that next year, that could be me.

CrossFit is doing amazing things to break down the barriers/limits of how I am starting to see myself in terms of the possibilities of fitness.

So, from a spectator’s perspective, thank you Kevin, Jo, and everyone else, for that! πŸ™‚

Yesterday was indeed one of the highlights of my summer and I am having an awesome summer so that is definitely saying something. My body is pretty sore today as well Heather! I had to tell myself at least 10 times that I should go and mow the lawn!

Wow… where should I start ? First, thank you Jo and Kevin for the AMAZING work you did organizing this event. It really was flawless !!! Everything went smooth (heats, equipement, food, water, massage, prizes, etc.). Even if I still have a hard time walking and even if I finished in 49th place (pppfffhahahaha) I will always remember yesterday ! It really was one of the biggest accomplishment in my life. I’m really proud that I did not scale it and that I was able to finish with a score of 66. It may not seem like a lot but for me, after just 4 months of CF, it’s just crazy πŸ™‚ Soooo proud of my sister Nadine to wow… What SHE achieved in the last couple of months still amaze me. Good job everybody !! I will never forget this !!!! πŸ˜€
