Five years?!

Here’s the link to my first CrossFit workout –  December 4, 2006.

What a terrible workout to be my first one. Looking back, I wasn’t able to complete it under an hour. And now, when I look at all of you doing workouts, I’m amazed at how far you’ve come in such a short amount of time.

Me after a few years of CrossFit is nothing compared to YOU after a year of CrossFit. My form was still terrible, there were a ton of movements I couldn’t do.

Yet, I hear people who have only been here less than 6 months, say they can’t do this or that. My response – be patient. Health is not a race. It’s a journey. Progress should be made slowly. I shouldn’t see posts in the comments about 15-50 pound PR’s. Let the improvement happen over a longer period of time so you don’t become stale.

I wish I had a coach that gave me that advice. Then I might not be stuck with a 130# press.

For time:
50 Box jump, 24 inch box
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Good Mornings
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball
50 Burpees
50 Double unders

Compare to Dec.4/10

Soooo thirsty.....

  5. Filthy 50’s —> 28:54

    PR by 4:40! 🙂
    Had 33:34 last year.
Had 40:07 in 2009 with singles.
Wall Balls and Burpees definitely chewed up time today. Very happy with my result today. Tweaked my lower back in yesterday’s WOD and woke up this morning very sore and could barely bend over. Thanks to ice, caffeine, advil and lacrosse balls I got to do the WOD. There was no way I was missing that one!

  6. Corinna

    Filthy Fifties: 28:47

    Last year: 26:53

No PR, but this year I did the 10’f wall balls and the knees to elbows. These 2 exercices just about did me in today. Hope this lung infection goes away soon!

I had a great time today at the gym!

Thanks Ron for motivating me to keep up with you. You are looking ripped there buddy!!

It is awesome having you back Sonia!

    Happy b-day Elba!

  7. Johan

    Filthy WOD – 25

Great to meet ya Julie to partner up, but had a hard time attempting to keep up with you 🙂
Bender… you must have kicked into recovery mode ’cause I couldn’t close in on ya at the end.
Sonia… you haven’t missed a beat 🙂 … great to see you back!
Smiles all around Elba… happy day !

  8. Marcel

    Filthy 50’s

    Did singles instead of doubles

Time: 37:25 (last time 42:36, but that was Nov 21/09)

Definitely a tough WOD that had it’s way with me today. K2E & wall balls definitely the worst. Great push by everyone today!

Happy Birthday Elba — the 28 burpees were a good warm up.

  9. Mobility

WU – 28 birthday burpees for Elba! Happy birthday Elba!

WOD: Filthy Fifties, scales to ‘Fuckin 40’s’

    For time:
40 Box jump, 20 inch box
    40 Jumping pull-ups

    40 Wall balls (10#, 10′)
    40 Burpees

My first attempt at this one, happy to finally do it!!
Wall balls and burpees slowed me down horribly. But, I did my wall balls at the 10′ line for the first time in a wod, so I’m happy with that.

T = 26:05. Happy with that, even though I don’t have anything to compare it to. 🙂

    Great morning at the gym.

I can’t wait to do this WOD next time, I kind of finish with the feeling that I should have done “The fuckin 40s” instead!! but really happy with my time 🙂

And congrats Trent for your time, really proud of you!!

  12. Lora

Sorry I missed this one 🙁

I know I say this every week (right Jeff P?) but this looks like a great candidate for C4C or an open gym. Totally impressed with all of your results today. Great work everyone!
