Hands down (…or perhaps I should say “chest up”), the highlight for me was completing chest to bar reps. in yesterday’s WOD. Whoop! Whoop!

    1. Gabrielle

I’m sad I missed that too Heidi… But, super proud of you for this great achievement πŸ™‚ Congrats!

Most memorable moment? Thats a tough one. So many of them. Watching people lifting weights they never had before? Seeing someone destroy a workout? The cacophony of cheers during the last 30 seconds of a WOD? All of the above, and probably more.

But for myself, I learned what goats I should target during the following months. I also learned not to fear the WODs, and looking forward to tackle them again someday. (WOD 11.5 comes to mind)

Big thanks to all judges, Kevin for doing an amazing job at making sure everything went smoothly, and big congrats to us all for participating and the giving each other endless support.

Now that being said, Im glad to be back on canadian ground and looking forward to training again after a nice break. Is their by any chance an open gym today so I can try 11.6? If not, no problem, I will try it some other time, but it’d be nice. Impressive results yesterday!

Oh by the way, did you guys continue with the voting challenge? Most votes in a row without messing up? I got a souvenir for the winner! πŸ˜›

Our pleasure. It was awesome to see such a great turn out. We had a great time.

Yes Jo, I found your necklace.

      1. Marcel

We really enjoyed hosting last night, thanks to everyone for coming out! Highlights of the night GSP’s win, Machida’s KO, & the box game!

  3. Dan

Most memorable moment from the 2011 Games: Mel retrying 11.3 on a Sunday, under Kevin’s watchful eye and going from 0 to hero.

  4. Sonia

Thanks Marcel and Heidi… great time:)

Most memorable… the reactions from anyone getting a PR or getting something they thought they wouldn’t be able to do… the cheering the last min of the wods… the energy, the support… what a great time. Can’t wait for next year:)
Well done everybody and all should be very proud of their results, of their efforts.

Thanks so much for opening your house to all of us last night Heidi and Marcel. I had a blast. Great hosts!!

  6. Mario

Sounds like it was a great party!

    WOD 11.6 = 66 rounds

Good to be back, nice to see you all crazy crossfitters again! Good job everyone on their WODs today.

  7. Corinna

    WOD 11.6

    Total: 56 reps

Most memorable. Today’s WOD for sure!!!! I attempted the chest to pullups on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to no avail. I truly thought that I would get my 3 reps of thrusters for this WOD. Last night and this morning I watched the submitted workout videos in order to visually see the technique for the C2B. I then went downstairs in my rec room and tried some pullups on my pullup bar that is on my doorframe. Gosh was I ever excited when I made contact with the bar! I was so excited about getting to the gym today and trying the C2B pullup on a regular bar.

Thanks a bunch Gabrielle for judging and encouraging me for this WOD today!

I’d have to say that Johnny’s PR’s were pretty impressive throughout some of these WOD’s. No more bands for you Heidi for your pullups.

The games were truly a blast. The support from everyone was amazing and the positive energy in the gym was contagious.

Thanks to Cross Fit Moncton for organizing and hosting the 6 weeks of WOD’s. A very special thanks to all the judges.

    1. Gillyon

WOW THAT IS AMAZING CORINNA! I am so happy for you and your C2B pullups. πŸ™‚ You did so great through each and every workout. You must be very proud of yourself.

    2. Gabrielle

Corinna – I’m so happy I was there to see you completely surpass your expectations on this one! You did fantastic πŸ™‚

      1. Heidi

Oops, that was my comment. Not so sure about “no more” bands, but I am certainly ready to start trying more WODS without them.

    3. Elissa

      Congrats Corinna!!

      that is awesome!

My most memorable moments were Jane and the crazy heavy clean, Heather pushing just a bit more with Marcs encouragement for those burpees, Joanna lifting so much for her tiny size, Sonia being there and kicking butt even while taking it slow!, so many more. Dan just in general!
Everyone during those really though ones that didnt get any but still pushed to the max.

Im proud of everyone and Yay crossfit Moncton! lots of love! (:

Im happy to have been there to witness all of this crazy intense energy!

  8. Gillyon

Great party last night. Thanks Heidi and Marcel. πŸ™‚ Sad that I missed the bite the box game.

I already mentioned my memorable moments yesterday…but want to share again. Judging Jane and her heavy clean on 11.5 was amazing. Seeing Heidi push through the DU in 11.1 and fighting to get those C2B pullups in 11.6 gave me goosebumps. It was emotionally and physically draining going on Saturdays. The nerves, the tears, the f bombs, and the cheers make me want more!

  9. One of my favourite moments was watching Guy in 11.1 get his Double Under on. Another was definitely getting those Cleans in 11.5 (Gillyon, you really were instrumental for me during that workout.). I also really loved watching everyone conquer the workouts and cheering them on. I loved the atmosphere in the gym. Yay CrossFit Moncton!! πŸ˜€

  10. Johnny

    WOD 11.6
    AMRAP 7min
    100# thrusters, chest-to-bar
Reps of 3,6,9 and so on
    Result: 59

Had to try this again as I was bummed by that crappy injury yesterday. So got my shoulder taped, put on a special shoulder brace and gave it another shot. Kept the majority of my pullups strict and others with a bit of Kip, but the Kip is what got me yesterday so I paid special attention. Happy I could at least improve upon my previous result.

Went to the new location today with Rob, Kev, and Marc- Wow !!! Gonna be great and the music is gonna sound so good in there!!

Also, Thank you Marcel and Heidi for a great night! I had alot of fun!!

Most memorable single moment was 11.3 I think watching Eric persist through the Squat clean. His determination on that day is a moment that will inspire me forever. I also love the final minute of every heat/WOD and cheering that goes with it! And personally getting my first Rep in 11.3 was another incredible personal memory.

    1. Heidi

Very impressive John, completing this WOD after your shoulder incident yesterday. A testament to your spirit.

  11. Gabrielle

I wasn’t able to be there for all the workouts unfortunately, but my highlights from the ones I did see were definitely Jane’s 11.5 and Corinna’s 11.6 πŸ˜€ I’m so amazed with everyone’s results and proud to see how much our community grew stronger and closer with this experience. Congratulations to each and every competitor for giving it your all and coming through with such strong results πŸ˜€ I’m SO proud of all of you!

  12. Eric B.

    WUx2
Practiced Cleans…thanks for the coaching Kevin and Marc!

    WOD – Intro Workout,
    AMRAP – 10 MINUTES
    5 pushups, 10 situps, 15 squats.

Score on January 31, 2011: 8 rounds plus 1 squat
Score Today: 10 rounds plus 11 squats!

When I first decided (or was more less told by Kevin) that I would be competing in the crossfit games I really had no idea what to expect. But over the 6 weeks, the level of determination, encouragement and hard work displayed is something that I will never forget.

Too many moments to spell them all out, however a few of them would be:
    – Mel coming in on the sunday of 11.3 to achieve what she couldnt do the day before!
    – Robs infamous fist pump.
    – Heathers 60 BURPEES!!!
    – Andrew shootin out the lights.
    – The last group of 11.1, these are the “elite” athletes that put up incredible scores. What I strive to become in the gym.
    – Johnny G. going against what he would never recommend to any of his patience and perform a workout a day after dislocating his shoulder. Thats courage.
    – Most of all though: the cheering, high fives, looks of pain and frustration, and achieving something you thought was impossible. Thats what its all about.
Only 51 weeks until Crossfit Games 2012……bring it on!

  13. Patrick

As far as memorable moments, everything I can think of has already been said. One thing I’d like to add is that I was amazed to see how many people were able to ignore their fears, self consciousness and decided to sign up for the games at the last minute. Some started with a “meh! I’ll just see what happens” attitude but everyone ended up attacking every WOD and really push their limits. It was great to watch.

  14. Marcel

Participating in the games has meant a lot to me. Last year Heidi and I went to Fredericton to watch the sectionals and I remember thinking — Man would it ever be awesome to be able to do that. So getting the opportunity this year was awesome. Most challenging/rewarding thing for me was WOD 11.1, since I am unable (yet) to string any double unders together, I really didn’t know if I’d be able to get all the doubles done in the 10 minute time limit, but like many have already stated the cheering and encouragement of everyone helped me to get one full round in!

  15. Gabriel

Congrats to Corinna, Jeanette, Mario and John on a wonderful ending to the Games WOD 11.6!

Most memorable moments? Most have been said already but I will have to say there has been some kind of energy that has descended upon us during these Games that is out of this world!
Kind of sad that it is all over. But very fortunate to have been part of it.

    Thank you…
… for hosting this very successful event Kevin!
… to all the judges, hats off for all the great judging you have done!
… to the fans, who have elevated the level of energy of the Game’s by many folds!
… to all CrossFit friends for the determination, courage, perseverance throughout all these challenges!

  16. Lora

WOW! Unfortunately personal and work commitments this year prevented me from taking in any of the Saturday Games WODs. Week after week I read everyones posts and their scores for each WOD, and couldn’t help but be more and more impressed with every one of you as the weeks went on.

I have read through all of today’s “Memorable Moments” from CF Games 2011 and the courage and determination each one of you have displayed, has motivated and inspired me to work harder and to compete NEXT YEAR in Games 2012! You should all be proud of your accomplishments.

    The countdown is on….. πŸ˜€

  17. Amanda

The Games being done at each of the affiliates has brought the energy in our gym to a whole new level. I love it.

Those of you disappointed that it’s over: don’t be, the Hopper is right around the corner! Can’t wait!

Great job today Corinna on your C2B pullups!!! Wish I could have seen it!

Thanks Marcel and Heidi for the party last night, I’m really glad I went over! I love Crossfit parties! πŸ™‚
