Deck of Death

  • Hearts = Burpees
  • DiamondsΒ = Situps
  • Clubs = Pullups
  • Spades = Squats
  • Jokers = 500m row

Start by drawing the top card and do that many reps of the suit. For example, if you draw the 9 of Hearts, you’re doing 9 burpees. Face cards are all worth 10. The goal is to get through the whole deck as fast as you can. There is a 25min time cap.

        Thanks! I honestly didn’t think I was going to make it through the whole deck because of the rowing. 2 x 500m row in this WOD is a HORRIBLE twist πŸ™‚

    Great job everyone! im really happy with my results. my pull ups were feeling good.
    Last time i did this was before I had left for Alberta in December 2009 and had 13 cards left. It was without a band but still! πŸ™‚

    9 Cards left. Really thought I was going to finish this one this time, but as Lady Luck would have it — I drew both Jokers back to back. Still enjoy this workout a lot, but the row is far more challenging than the run.

    The last one wasn’t very pretty, and a little off balance… but I did it! πŸ™‚

    PR by 44 seconds from May 28th (400m runs).
    Rowing was a tougher challenge so I’m happy with that result!

    Hurt my back in October doing Push Press, and so I’m still tentative with all 3 presses. But, I’m starting to get my confidence back… in my back.

    WOD: Deck of Death! (I’ve heard about this one, but it’s my first time doing it)
    Finished with 10 cards left (3 of the 4 aces were left and the rest were low numbers! Frickidy Frick!)
    I figure I would have finished if it had have been Run rather than Row. I look forward to meeting this WOD again.
