The sun was shining. The air was warm. And the bleachers were filled with spectators. A perfect day for the FACE Relay.
We had four teams entered into the competition – two men and two women.
After everyone went through the event once, they announced that the top two teams in each division would have another go at it. The CrossFit Moncton Women 1 and 2 took the top two positions and had a showdown. Team 2 (pictured below) came out with an awesome time of 3:01.
The Men’s Team 2 finished with a respectable 4th place finish, while Team 1 of the Men had to battle for the title against CrossFit Dieppe. It was a nail biter, as Dieppe finished the course in a faster time than Moncton, however, they collected two penalties in their run, making the CrossFit Men’s 1 Team the Champions, with a time of 1:44.
The real Champs are the people who will benefit from the monies raised. CrossFit Moncton brought in $325. Big thanks to everyone who came out and cheered us on!
I’m working on a highlight reel that shows the team relay event, as well as the five members who took the challenge to a whole new level by trying the entire course by themselves.
On another note, next weekend, we’re going to be doing our own little fundraiser – Fight Gone Bad. The firefighters who hosted the relay expressed interest in joining us for the Fight, but they are only able to make it on Sunday (27th). I would like to propose having the workout on Sunday at 11am, a small donation of $10 to participate, and all proceeds going to F.A.C.E. (Firefighters Agaist Cancer’s Existence). If you’re able to make it out on Sunday, please sign-up on the whiteboard at the gym, or shoot me an email. I’ll also toss in a free months membership to the person that raises the most money!
