Next Saturday

Next Saturday

I’d like to share a story.

Back in April, I had a visitor from Calgary come to the gym. She’s originally from the Moncton area and was back home for a visit.

Her name is Heather and she had been dabbling with CrossFit on her own. Her and I wrestled together and also worked together at Cape Enrage Adventures. When she found out about a CrossFit in Moncton, she had to stop in.

It was on a Sunday, the day after Pierre and I did the Burpee Mile. I was going to rest, but she really wanted to try a workout, and I wasn’t going to let her do it by herself.

So Heather and I set out on the Broomstick Mile.

She was fast! I mean, she really moved quickly through that workout! A CrossFitter in the making.

I recently came to find out that it was Heather’s dad, Mark Gallagher that was killed in the Haiti.

CrossFit Moncton, with other local affiliates, will be doing the Broomstick Mile on January 23rd. Participation in the workout will cost $10, and all funds raised will go to support the disaster relief in Haiti.

I hope you’ll join in and show how supportive the CrossFit community can be!

Great idea Kevin! Janine was telling us about it yesterday and we are totally on board here in Bathurst. I am actually living in the Gallagher’s house which we bought from them 3 years aga. Mark was a great guy and well known here in Bathurst. I am sure that we can get a great turn out here as well.

J had the chance of teaching Heather and coaching Shane at Trimble. They were both nice kids. I feel terrible for the family.
The world needs more Mark Gallagher.
Jane and I will be there.

Super family. What a loss to every community Mark touched. He was a true humanitarian in every sense of the word. I will be there on Saturday.

A great cause Kevin thanks for organizing this. It might be worth suggesting donating the funds raised through Scotiabank to the Red Cross relief. Scotiabank will match all funds raised, which are then matched again by the Canadian government e.g. $100 donation gives $400 to the Red Cross Haiti relief fund. Good luck!
