Owner/Head Trainer
Kevin was introduced to CrossFit in the fall of 2006, couldn’t walk for a few days, and has been hooked ever since. While he was a physical education teacher, he started sprinkling CrossFit-type workouts into his classes. The next progression was inviting friends to his ‘house of pain’ to experience CrossFit. Then he started hosting weekly sessions at a local park, giving birth to CrossFit Moncton in July of 2008. And he couldn’t have done it without his amazing friends and family.
Always being the skinny kid, his progress was quick. He’s competed in the qualifiers for the Games since 2008 and qualified as an individual and as a team member for Regionals. Having a thirst for knowledge, he’s been to five Level 1 seminars, CF Gymnastics, CF Kids, CF Mobility and Olympic Lifting, as well as degrees in Kinesiology and Education.
His passion for CrossFit and helping others still burns after many years. Helping people reach their health and fitness goals will always be his number one priority.

Joanna was always the “short, skinny girl” growing up. She had never played sports nor was much of a gym go-er. She had tried a couple of at home programs and made modest efforts at your run of the mill gym for a short time but nothing ever stuck. Shortly after meeting Kevin in January 2010 he convinced her to try CrossFit. She was skeptical at first but decided to give it a go and well, it was love at first WOD.
It wasn’t long before she discovered she wanted to share her love for the sport of fitness with those around her and went for her CrossFit Level 1 certification later in 2010 to be a coach at CrossFit Moncton. Joanna has discovered she enjoys competing and was a member of the 2011 CrossFit Moncton team that participated in the CrossFit Games Regional level competition in Toronto. She favors the olympic lifts (clean & jerk and snatch) and any gymnastic based movements. She enjoys improving people’s understanding of movements and helping them achieve better positioning in those movements. You can find her hosting CrossFit Moncton’s Mobility class on Monday evenings.
Joanna is a CrossFit Level 1 trainer, CrossFit Movement and Mobility certified and holds an Olympic Weightlifting certification from Darby Training Systems.
Trainer/Merchandise Representative
Patrick has been a member of CrossFit Moncton since 2009 and became part of the coaching staff in 2011. A Crossfit Level 1 trainer and Darby Training Systems Olympic Weightlifting certified, Patrick’s experience with the CrossFit methodology is valuable to our members.
Besides coaching and training in our morning classes, Patrick is an avid photographer/videographer who enjoys outdoor life and traveling. He played volleyball competitively at high school and college level but lost interest after an ankle injury. Like many people, Patrick found the love of CrossFit while researching for an effective way to get back in shape.
Patrick thrives on the progress we see in our members. He enjoys teaching CrossFit movements, but his favorite part about CFM is the community support. He knows how difficult it is for a new member to step foot in our gym and that’s why he will always welcome you with open arms (or a simple fist bump).
Trainer/Master’s Coach
Heather started CrossFit in October 2008. Her reason was simple, because her son Kevin told her that if she had grandchildren she would not be able to pick them up or be able to keep up with running around after them. That was motivation enough for her.
She had little previous exercise experience. She swam through the summer months and walked on a treadmill the rest of the year. Heather was not able to complete a full sit-up when she first started but can now easily perform most movements and even do an unassisted pullup and deadlift over 100 pounds. When she’s not at the gym you can usually find her curled up with a good book or in the summer months, doing laps in her pool.
Heather holds two CrossFit Level 1 certifications and can be found coaching the CrossFit Moncton Masters Class. She enjoys coaching the presses (shoulder press, push press, push jerk) and her favorite thing about being a trainer is seeing the change in members’ minds and bodies.
Trainer
Corinna (a.k.a. the”Boston Strangler”) is a high school Immersion, Science and Physed teacher. Her students will tell you that she is a CrossFit fanatic. In high school she was on the “chubby” side and vividly remembers running a 3km race and finishing dead last. Fast forward a few years, not only was she much slimmer but she had become an avid runner having won many x-country and track competitions as well as completing several full and half marathons throughout the years.
In 2000, Corinna was diagnosed with endometriosis and underwent multiple surgeries. Unfortunately, all didn’t go well and she was left unable to work or do any physical activity for several years. She later found her miracle doctor in Oregon in 2006, who gave Corinna her life back.
She found CrossFit in 2008, and never looked back. Her addiction for long distance running was replaced with her new found CrossFit addiction. A great CrossFit milestone for her was competing on the CrossFit Moncton team at the CrossFit Games Regionals in 2011.
Corinna loves being a high school teacher but also has a passion for being a CrossFit trainer, seeing those who are willing to put in the time and effort to become stronger and healthier. The best feeling for her is seeing the “newbies” getting the CrossFit Bug! She loves her CrossFit Moncton community. Corinna’s partner is also a member – they love working out together and encouraging one another during a WOD and both admit that CrossFit has strengthened their marriage.
Trainer/Kid’s Coach
Ron was introduced to CrossFit in 2011 through a friend who was already a member at CrossFit Moncton. He has played many sports in the past and has been active in other local gyms but he either lost interest or he stopped seeing results because he was always doing the same routine. CrossFit provided him with something constantly varied and it kept him interested, so he stayed and is now part of the gym equipment (or furniture as it were).
The people who have impacted Ron’s life the most were the coaches he had through the years. His hope is that he could possibly do the same by helping someone else reach their health and fitness goals. He says the high and personal satisfaction he gets from coaching our members is incredible and just as addictive as CrossFit itself. Ron loves coaching beginners because he understands how hard and frustrating it can be to learn something new. He admires anybody who is willing to make positive changes to improve themselves.
Ron is a CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Kids trainer. You can find him coaching the CrossFit Kids class with Coach Corinna. He is a Provincial level coach in both hockey and baseball as well as a Recreation level coach in soccer.

Jeff is a lifetime athlete and has dabbled in many different sports. The one that stuck with him though was being a triathlete. He participated in the Subaru series in Ontario for 7 years in sprint, olympic and half-iron distances. His big show however was the full ironman race (4km swim, 180km bike, 42km run) in Florida in 2008. He finished in 11:56:12 and didn’t think the feeling he got running down through the finish with 5,000 people cheering could be matched. He thought he would be a lifetime triathlete…then…
Jeff’s first CrossFit workout was in October 2011, after his partner (and now Coach Lora) bombarded him for months about how great CrossFit is. He went in thinking that CrossFit would be his off season training regimen and would be back outside on the bike training for triathlons in the spring. The physical effects of that first workout stayed with Jeff for quite some time after. Not only that but he was hooked on CrossFit, and hooked BIG!
All the sports he had done before had been self taught or “self coached”. Researching through books and internet, breaking down moves on his own. CrossFit was different in that he couldn’t see what he was doing either right or wrong, he needed a second set of eyes and realized so does everyone else. Passion for this sport and his thirst for knowledge made the choice to become a trainer a natural one. Jeff is CrossFit Level 1 certified with hopes of getting his olympic lifting certification and possibly many more after that.
Jeff’s favourite part about being a coach is that lightbulb moment people get when you give them a tip about a movement – you see them working on it and they get a beaming smile on their face when it clicks for them.

Lora has been playing sports and lifting weights for most of her life. Everything from softball, volleyball, swimming and cycling. Running and lifting weights were staples in her exercise regime for many years. She has competed in figure competitions and half-marathons. One day a friend told her about all the crazy workouts she was doing at CrossFit. It sounded very intimidating as the weight room and treadmill were nicely inside her comfort zone. CrossFit was not. But, her friend persisted and Lora finally got the courage to give it a try. That was in January 2011. Lora hasn’t been back to a “regular” gym since.
The CrossFit Prescription of Constantly Varied, Functional Movements executed at High Intensity has changed everything about the way Lora works out. Gone are the days of training specific body parts (leg day, bi-cep day etc.) and slogging it out on the treadmill for one hour long “cardio” sessions. It has also given her the confidence to try new things; like doing her first sprint triathlon in 2011.
Lora enjoys being a coach because she likes to help and encourage people. Regardless of your ability as an athlete, everyone wants to improve on something. It is Lora’s goal to bring out the best in you.
When she is not working as a pharmacist or busy being a Mom to two active young boys, Lora enjoys reading (often about CrossFit), watching CrossFit videos and the occasional Reality TV show. Lora is a CrossFit Level 1 Certified trainer with future aspirations of CrossFit certifications in Olympic lifting and endurance training.
Trainer
Amanda has been doing CrossFit since May 2010. Her interest was sparked when she went to Fredericton to support and watch husband/coach Patrick at the Regionals for the CrossFit Games. She tried the Saturday morning drop-in and has been hooked ever since. She has always been active, but never as passionate for anything as much as CrossFit.
Her favorite way to spend her free time is with her nephew, and in the summer when she’s not at the gym, you can find her on a ball field in Moncton, playing slo-pitch. Most weekends in the summer she makes herself scarce at her cottage, where she unwinds from the busy week.
As a coach, she especially enjoys working with new members. She loves seeing the confidence transform in people who are nervous and intimidated by the gym, and to help them transition from “there’s no way I can do this”, to “I can’t believe I did that!”
Amanda obtained her Level 1 CrossFit certification in July of 2012. She was inspired by seeing people transform their lives with CrossFit, and wanted to be able to help people achieve that. She believes virtuosity is a key ingredient to CrossFit and in life, and knows that we are better athletes by chasing it in all of our movements and exercises, so she works hard to instill that in our members.

Rob (a.k.a. “One-eye”) has been involved in sports and hockey his entire life. He enjoys playing any and all sports, but would never be found in the gym until 2010 when a friend suggested that he was a tad too old for CrossFit. In his first WOD, when Rob seen a 60 year old woman cranking out an overhead squat (with a smile on her face) he was hooked. Rob loves the quote “CrossFit is like meth, but you get to keep your teeth.” Rob says ‘Hi’ to everyone he meets in the gym and is always cracking a joke – sometimes to the dismay of many. All who know him are shocked to see hockey taking a back seat to his new passion, CrossFit, even though he is now faster, more explosive and agile on the ice.
Rob has been a dedicated CrossFitter from day one in early 2010. He holds his Olympic Lifting certification and is CrossFit Level 1 Certified. Rob is a firm believer that technique outweighs large loads. He enjoys training for the sole purpose to show others that we all can “love the gym”, and nothing gets you in better over all shape physically and mentally than CrossFit!
Trainer
Mario (a.k.a. Super Mario) is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, a civil engineer, lover of bacon, avid video game collector, part-time pro-wrestling referee, all-around nerd and he loves to squat heavy stuff.
Mario has participated in and tried a variety of sports throughout childhood, high school and university: baseball, soccer, sprints, karate, olympic wrestling, jogging and the conventional treadmill-dumbbell routine typically found at “the other gym”. None of these would stick for more than a few months, resulting in his bodyweight doing the yo-yo for most of his 20’s. Having heard about CrossFit from university friends, he looked up CrossFit Moncton on the web before moving back to Moncton for a new job, signed up for the free drop-in session, met Kevin Wood, then met Pukie, and signed up right away.
CrossFit changed Mario’s perception on the notions of training, fitness, nutrition and physical and mental capacities. He has met many wonderful people from all walks of life and made many new friends through the CrossFit community, and loves the atmosphere at the gym. He will cheer you on even if he doesn’t know you and looks forward to grow as a trainer and help others better themselves.
